Weight loss 'is body's way of fighting off gut worms' (BBC News Online, 18 January 2013)

UK researchers, publishing in PLoS Pathogens, report that weight loss during infection with intestinal worms may be part of the immune response. The study, carried out in mice, found that levels of cholecystokinin and leptin were affected.
