Tracing the molecular causes of preeclampsia (EurekAlert, 8 September 2012)

A study presented at the 1st ECRC "Franz-Volhard" Symposium in Berlin shows that pregnant women with preeclampsia have an imbalance of growth factors produced by the placenta; they have too much sFlt-1 circulating in their blood, and too little PlGF.
