Too much lithium in water triggers hypothyroidism (CORDIS News, 18 April 2011)

An EU-funded study has demonstrated a high level of lithium in drinking water in the Argentinian Andes mountains, and has suggested that this life-long exposure could be linked to the development of hypothyroidism in people who start taking lithium for bipolar disorder.
