Steroids may prevent up to a third of miscarriages by controlling ‘killer cells’ (The Times, 10 September 2008)

A potential solution for approximately one third of women experiencing miscarriages could be administration of the steroid, prednisolone. The steroid is thought to work by reducing the number of natural killer cells in women trying to conceive. However, experts are cautious about the results, as a placebo effect has not yet been ruled out.
