Short-term prescriptions attacked (BBC news online, 16 March 2009)

A survey carried out by the British Thyroid Foundation has highlighted the problems with 28-day prescriptions for patients requiring long-term treatment. The survey results, presented at the Society for Endocrinology BES annual meeting in Harrogate, show 38% had been given 28-day prescriptions and 17% had gone without thyroxine because of difficulties getting hold of the medication.
