Scientists find link between maternal diet and diabetes (BBC News Online, 8 March 2011)

Scientists from the University of Cambridge have suggested a link between poor maternal diet and an increased risk of offspring developing diabetes in later life. Their study, carried out in rats, shows a poor diet in the mother can lead to silencing of a gene (Hnf4a) involved in insulin production.
