Ovarian cancer finding may be a 'win-win' for at-risk women who wish to have a family (EurekAlert, 7 April 2011)

A US team has developed a surgical technique that may allow women with a history of ovarian cancer to avoid development of the disease whilst retaining their fertility. The technique was performed on monkeys and showed that removing a layer of cells from the ovaries where ovarian cancer is known to develop did not prevent the monkeys from ovulating. The technique's effect on ovarian cancer itself was not examined.
