A US-Germany collaboration published in Science Translational Medicine uses advanced imaging to provide an in-depth analysis of bone quality and fracture mechanics in patients with vitamin D deficiency, suggesting that vitamin D deficiency may induce premature bone ageing in addition to reducing bone mineralisation.
