Next generation of prescription diet pills could increase risk of colon cancer

Increasing activity of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is associated with an increased incidence of intestinal tumours in mice, raising concerns about the use of drugs that elevate levels of GLP-1 in humans to treat diabetes and other metabolic diseases.
