New research links metabolic hormone to depression (AlphaGalileo, 21 October 2011)

A US study published in Clinical Endocrinology, the official clinical journal of the Society for Endocrinology, has found that levels of leptin (a hormone produced by fat cells) can be correlated with symptoms of depression and anxiety.
