Greater awareness needed on risks that Addison's disease poses to patients (Medical News Today, 3 May 2011)

Two studies presented at the European Congress of Endocrinology in Rotterdam show that adrenal crises in Addison's disease may have a higher incidence than previously thought, and that the risk of infections (which can precipitate adrenal crises) may be greater in those with Addison's disease. The studies call for greater awareness of the life-threatening nature of adrenal crises and the appropriate medical action.
