Dolphins have diabetes off switch (BBC News Online, 19 February 2010)

US National Marine Mammal Foundation researchers have described an internal 'diabetes switch' in dolphins that is proposed to have evolved to help the mammals balance their low-carbohydrate diet with their brains' high glucose requirement. The finding could lead to new insights into the genetics and treatment of diabetes.
