Diabetes substantially over-treated in older adults

According to a study published this week in the Journal of the American medical Association, most older patients with diabetes who are in poor health are given insulin or sulfonylureas to achieve tight glycemic control, even though such intensive control is more harmful than beneficial in that patient population.
