Diabetes increases risk of atrial fibrillation

A Danish national registry study presented at the European Society of Cardiology this week found that adults with diabetes mellitus are at increased risk of subsequent new-onset atrial fibrillation and that the younger the age of onset, the greater the likelihood of developing the arrhythmia.
