Diabetes drug is activated by light to cause pancreas to release insulin

Scientists have developed a “photoswitchable” version of the diabetes drug glimepiride that is activated through exposure to blue light, allowing insulin release by pancreatic cells to be optically controlled. Pharmaceutical Journal
