Common antiseptic ingredients inhibit mitochondria and impair hormone response

‘Quats’, used in antiseptics, in toothpastes, eye drops, shampoos and other products inhibit mitochondrial energy production and cellular oestrogen responses, potentially causing reproductive toxicity and reduced fertility, according to research published in Environmental Health Perspectives.
