Betatrophin breakthrough called into question

An independent follow up study published in Cell has found that betatropin is not required for beta-cell function or growth. This directly contradicts the so called breakthrough finding in 2013 by the Melton lab that claimed that betatrophin treatment “could augment or replace insulin injections by increasing the number of endogenous insulin-producing cells in diabetics.” The Scientist
