World’s first synthetic embryo created

A synthetic embryo has been successfully created by researchers in Israel using stem cells from mice, which could be induced to develop an intestinal tract, the beginnings of a brain, and a beating heart. The ground-breaking work is published in Cell and could lead to fewer animal experiments in the future.
