World population to hit 9.7 billion in 2050 (AFP, 02 October 2013)

A bi-annual report by the French Institute of Demographic Studies (Ined) projected that India will be the most population nation in the world by 2050. They also found that Nigerians will outstrip Americans by the middle of this century, with the African country projected to reach a population of 444 million people compared to 400 million in the USA.
