Sudden unexpected infant death (SUID) risk may be linked to maternal obesity

An observational study published in JAMA Paediatrics has identified a relationship between increasing levels of maternal BMI among women with obesity, and the risk for SUID. The study attributed 5.4% of the SUIDs to maternal obesity, and recommends that maternal obesity be added to the list of known risk factors for SUID.
