Reduced exercise capability linked to inactivity of blood flow protein

Physical inactivity leads to deactivation of blood flow sensing protein, Piezo1, according to a study published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation. This mouse study indicates that the protein is key for maintaining muscle capillary density and that disruption of the protein leads to a reduced ability to exercise.
