Research published in Sleep indicates that overweight and obese women who experience breathing difficulties while sleeping during early pregnancy have an increased likelihood of reduced insulin sensitivity. The findings suggest that monitoring sleep-related breathing difficulties may help identify women at greater risk of developing gestational diabetes.
