PhD studentship, Leuven, Belgium

16 Jan 2012

A PhD studentship to study 'Hormonal Regulation of TRP channels in female reproductive organs' is available at Katholieke University Leuven, Belgium. In the doctoral project, the student will investigate the possible activation/modulation of female reproductive hormones on TRP channels. They will determine whether the potency of sex hormones on sensory TRP channels is direct by opening/blocking of the channel or indirect by influencing the expression level of TRP channels or by affecting modulators of the channels.

This doctoral project is embedded in the Laboratory of Gynaecology under supervision of Professor Joris Vriens. The research group is a new very dynamic translational research group closely collaborating with the international renowned top laboratory of Ion Channel Research. Daily supervision will be provided by experienced researchers in molecular biology, Ca2+ imaging and patch clamp technique. In addition, the PhD student will have the opportunity to contribute to other projects and will be exposed to other disciplines (e.g. microscopy).
