BFS statement on receiving news of the death of Mrs Lesley Brown (22 June 2012)

22 Jun 2012

The British Fertility Society was saddened to hear about the death of Lesley Brown, the mother of Louise Brown the first person to be conceived through IVF. In her own way Lesley was a pioneer by trusting in Patrick Steptoe and Robert Edwards and agreeing to enter their trial and the birth of Louise was a landmark in assisted conception treatment. The British Fertility Society would like to send its condolences to the Brown family and to their many friends and relatives at this difficult time. Our thoughts are with you.

Lesley Brown passed away on 6 June 2012 in Bristol.
