Young Endocrinologist prize winners, SfE BES 2007

We would like to congratulate all winners of the Young Endocrinologist prizes awarded at the Society BES meeting last week, of which there were an impressive 19 in total. The Oral communication winners, who received a prize of £500 each, were: Owais Chaudhri (London) for "Kisspeptin-54 potently stimulates luteinising hormone release during the preovulatory phase of the menstrual cycle in healthy human females" and Manuel Lemos (Oxford) for "Mice deleted for a Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1 (MEN1) allele develop pancreatic, pituitary and parathyroid tumours in association with hypercalcaemia". The two Poster winners who also received £500 each were Irina Grigorieva (Oxford) for "Mechanisms of DNA binding by the transcription factor GATA3 revealed by mutations causing the Hypoparathyroidism-deafness-renal dysplasia (HDR) syndrome" and Elaine Murphy (London) for "T3 rather than TSH mediates the effects of altered thyroid status on bone turnover in man".
