Voice of the Future 2013

10 Apr 2013

Four of the Society for Endocrinology's Young Endocrinologists were recently given the opportunity to attend 'Voice of the Future 2013. Joining representatives from a number of other professional societies, they were offered the rare opportunity to put topical questions to participating MPs from the seats usually reserved for members of the Select Committee.

The event was introduced by John Bercow MP, the Speaker of the House of Commons. Attending were members of the House of Commons Select Committee on Science & Technology; Minister for Universities and Science, Rt Hon David Willetts MP; Shadow Minister for Higher Education and Science, Shabana Mahmood MP (Labour); Professor John Perkins, Chief Scientific Adviser to the Department of BIS; and, the outgoing Government Chief Scientific Advisor, Sir John Beddington.

The event was broadcast by BBC Democracy Live. There was a steady flow of tweets throughout the session, including comments from attendees Lucia Magee and Nicola Rylett. An overview of tweets made on the day are available here.

A commentary on the day from one of our delegates will be published in the Summer edition of The Endocrinologist which will be available to view here.
