On Wednesday 23 November 2011, the Society supported a public event on Charles Byrne (the ‘Irish Giant’) and familial isolated pituitary adenoma (FIPA). Professor Márta Korbonits (London) presented the findings of the groundbreaking study that characterised FIPA to a packed room at the Hunterian Museum. She was joined by Brendan Holland, a central participant in the study and a FIPA patient who shares a common ancestor with Charles Byrne.
