We are seeking applications for a vacant position as a member of the ESPE Science School (ESS) Committee. The 3-year appointment will start in July 2014. The main task of the ESS Committee is to integrate suggestions by the membership, develop the programme of the ESS meeting and participate in the evaluation of applicants interested in attending the ESPE Science School. The ESPE Science School takes place every two years.
The successful applicant is expected to attend the ESS Meeting and participate actively in the development of the ESS programme in terms of knowledge within the society, attraction of the best students and speakers, and promotion of high level science within ESPE. He/she is also expected to teach at the ESS meeting and be involved in mentoring and social interactions with the students. Applicants should have a wide knowledge of the published literature in paediatric endocrinology in general and detailed knowledge in specific area(s). Preference will be given to candidates with both a clinical and basic science research background, as well as technical expertise in at least in one area of paediatric endocrinology.
The workload consists of one teleconference every six months, several emails and preparation work, attendance at the ESS meeting, evaluation of submitted applications, and one face to face meeting every year (during the annual ESPE meeting). The appointment will be made by the ESPE Council following recommendation by the ESS Committee.
