We are seeking applications for a vacancy on the ESPE Research Unit committee (ESPE-RU). The 3-year appointment will start in December 2014. The main task of the ESPE-RU is the identification and facilitation of research areas most likely to be successful and clinically or scientifically useful in paediatric endocrinology. The post involves the selection of suitable research projects and management of grant funding provided by ESPE and other external funding bodies to the Research Unit. You would be one of five ESPE members including two members of the council.
The workload consists of participation in the external review process for research projects submitted to the ESPE-RU in May and in the final ranking of the projects in July. Most of the work is done by e-mails and one face to face meeting every year (during the annual ESPE meeting). Applicants should have a wide knowledge of research in the field of paediatric endocrinology and have experience in the grant peer review process, as well as a personal track record in research. Since members have to come from different countries, we cannot on this occasion consider applications from Italy or France both of which are already represented in the committee or consider applications of members already involved in other ESPE committees.
The appointment will be made by the ESPE Council following recommendation by the ESPE-RU. If you are interested in applying for this important post, please send a brief email to the ESPE-RU co-ordinator Irene Netchine ([email protected]) outlining your suitability for consideration.
