Applications are invited until 12th August 2019 for the post of Consultant in Paediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes based at the Children’s Hospital for Wales on the University Hospital of Wales site in Cardiff.
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is a major teaching centre, providing a paediatric endocrinology service for the local population of Cardiff as well as providing a comprehensive tertiary service to South and Mid Wales. All major paediatric specialties are also provided including allergy, cardiology, ENT, gastroenterology, urology, nephrology, neonatology (level 3), neurology and neurosurgery, orthopaedics (including spinal), paediatric intensive care, paediatric and neonatal surgery, diabetes, respiratory medicine, radiology and oncology / haematology. The hospital offers ample opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and excellent facilities for research and clinical care.
This is a new 10 PA tertiary paediatric endocrine and diabetes post and the appointee will join two existing consultant colleagues in providing a service covering all aspects of endocrine care through existing network links. Commissioning of the service has recently moved to the Welsh Health Specialised Service Committee (WHSSC) which has attracted considerable new funding to enhance the service with new appointments, including this post, across the whole MDT. The appointee will also work with the MDT in paediatric diabetes providing care for ~220 children from Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan with diabetes.
