Update on Clinical Excellence Awards (1)

Ministers have indicated that they wish to delay their decision of new awards and renewal applications while they consider the report from the Review Body on Doctors' and Dentists' Remuneration (DDRB). Part of the remit for the DDRB was to give advice on new awards in 2012. The Advisory Committee on Clinical Excellence Awards (ACCEA) anticipates a decision on this in September.

In view of these delays the Society will also have to delay its procedures for ACCEA support to members. Members should therefore be aware that if the 2012 round proceeds for new applicants, deadlines for submitting applications to the Society for support may be unavoidably tighter than usual.
