Society Strategic Review Update

12 Jan 2007

The Society is currently implementing the results of the Strategic Review, which is progressing well. Areas of focus include: 1) Attracting and retaining good young scientists, doctors and nurses in endocrinology: actvities include increasing prizes for members, several of which were presented at the last November Meeting. 2) Lobbying and influencing government, universities, NHS and others: proposals include developing the Society’s links with sister societies, supporting and collaborating with the Biosciences Federation and the RCP. 3) Website: The long-awaited new Society web site was launched in early November, in time for the November meeting. The new design will improve navigation so that information on grants and other key topics will be easier to find. The home page also has some news items and the main forthcoming deadlines, such as early bird registration for the Society BES 2007 meeting. Well done to Steven Perry for managing the redesign project, including designing the new site: . 4) Education: A new Education section is now available on the website, which has its own search facility, bringing together training course handouts and selected articles from The Endocrinologist. We plan to expand this section in the future, led by the Council Education representative, Dr Joy Hinson. We would be interested to know what educational materials you would like to see here.
