Society spreads the word at the Edinburgh Science Festival

14 Apr 2008

The public event, held jointly by the Medical Research Council and the Society for Endocrinology, at this year's Edinburgh International Science Festival has been a resounding success. 150 people came along to the National Musuem of Scotland to hear Prof Richard Sharpe and Dr Mandy Drake discuss how hormones, lifestyle choices and environmental factors can all combine to affect our health and that of our children. This fascinating session was chaired by Dr Chris Smith (from the Naked Scientists and the 2006 BSF Science Communication Award winner) and was followed by a balanced but very lively question and answer session from the audience. We also held a reception, hosted by Prof John Wass, at the museum beforehand and it was a pleasure to see so many Society members there. We would like to extend our thanks to all of you and to the speakers and the MRC for helping to make this event such a success.
