Society of Biology Workshop: Learning and Teaching in Higher Education

The Society of Biology are running a full day workshop on 'Learning and Teaching in Higher Education' aimed at people new to teaching in higher education as well as those with some years’ experience who would like to increase their knowledge and expertise within this area. The course will be held from 10am-4pm, Monday 17 December 2012 at Society of Biology - Charles Darwin House in London.

This interactive day aims to build confidence through shared experience whilst exploring the complexity of teaching and learning and how they inter-relate in the biosciences. The course covers: Aspects of learning and teaching in the Biosciences – the role of research and experience; Session planning and preparation for effective learning; Constructive alignment of outcomes and assessment; Voice care and presentation skills; and Opportunities to develop independent learners.

The course will be run in an interactive style where participation of course attendees will be encouraged. Participants will be provided with key references, course notes and copies of the slides used for the session.
