SfE-sponsored public event - 23 November 2011 - London

09 Nov 2011

Professor Márta Korbonits, Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Barts and the London School of Medicine, will present a lecture on her research into familial isolated pituitary adenoma (FIPA), which has greatly added to our understanding of this rare and novel disease, and was recently published in a paper in the New England Journal of Medicine (N Engl J Med 2011; 364:43-50).

The lecture, entitled “A Tall Story: Unravelling the genetics behind Charles Byrne, ‘the Irish Giant’” will take place at the Hunterian Museum, London, where Charles Byrne’s skeleton is now preserved. Professor Korbonits will be joined on stage by Brendan Holland, who will talk about his experience as a FIPA patient and his participation in the study. The event will take place at 13:00 on Wednesday 23 November 2011.

This event is sponsored by SfE through a public engagement grant awarded to Professor Korbonits. Disability access arrangements and speech-to-text interpretation are available. To find out more about the event and to book your ticket please follow the link below.
