Hungry? 18:30 - 19:30, Thursday 9 June 2011, Cheltenham Town Hall.
Some people can ignore a plate of biscuits while others will not stop eating until they have all gone, even if they have just had lunch! But what really drives our appetite and urge to eat? Join leading researchers to discuss how hormones influence feeding behaviour and why some people just can’t stop. Speakers include Dr Kevin Murphy (Imperial College London), Prof Jane Wardle (University College London) and Prof Steve O’Rahilly (University of Cambridge).
Gender: More than X versus Y 20:15 - 21:15, Thursday 9 June 2011, Cheltenham Town Hall.
What makes males male and females female? Our chromosomes tell us what sex we are genetically, but hormones play an important role in translating this to our physical and emotional gender identity. What happens if this process goes wrong? In this event leading experts explore the development of gender. Speakers include: Prof Melissa Hines (University of Cambridge), Prof Ieuan Hughes (University of Cambridge) and Dr Robin Lovell-Badge (MRC National Institute for Medical Research).
Come and join us for what promises to be an evening of interesting and informative talks. Information on how to purchase tickets can be found on the website below or by contacting the festival box office on: 01242 505 444.
