The overall objectives of the Nutritional Epidemiology Group (NEP) are to investigate the role of diet, nutrition (micronutrient deficiency, under/over-nutrition), hormonal factors, physical activity and energy balance on cancer risk, with particular consideration of gene-diet/nutrient/environment interactions.

Under the supervision of the NEP group head, the candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management, conduct and analysis of multi-centre epidemiological studies with emphasis on diet, nutrition and cancer. The selected candidate will be expected to: contribute to the planning, design, implementation and/or conduct of epidemiologic studies on nutrition and cancer, as well as lifestyle and dietary determinants of healthy aging; contribute to data collection and statistical data analyses of on-going and future epidemiologic studies mainly in the field of nutrition and cancer; including the development of protocols and questionnaires, along with their testing and validation; contribute to the preparation and writing of scientific manuscripts and/or reports; contribute to the writing, coordination and management of grant applications in relevant research areas.

A PhD in epidemiology, with a focus on nutritional sciences is essential; postgraduate training in nutritional epidemiology is desirable. Further information can be found on the website below; the closing date for applications is 12 May 2011.
