The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the national charity dedicated to the well-being of people with Cystic Fibrosis. Its objectives are to fund research, ensure appropriate clinical care, and to provide support and information for those affected by Cystic Fibrosis. The charity is the major funder of research into CF in the UK, currently committing around £7m a year to a broad range of medical and scientific research aimed at understanding, treating and ultimately curing Cystic Fibrosis. Along with a major programme of gene therapy research, we have an annual grant round and several other research initiatives. We are now looking to recruit an experienced research administrator to the new position of Research Manager, whose role will be to operate, maintain and develop the complete process of the charity’s annual grant round and other research initiatives from the initial call for applications, through to monitoring ongoing research arising from grants awarded. The Research Manager will be responsible for the Grant Finance Administrator. Working closely with the Director of Research and the Chairman of the Research Advisory Committee, the Research Manager will also provide the secretariat to the charity’s various research committees. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of research management, along with excellent secretariat skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. As well as being able to work under pressure and deliver results to agreed deadlines, he/she will also have experience of supervising staff alongside the ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
