Research Associate (two positions), University of Cambridge

13 Dec 2011

Via www.naturejobs.com. Applications are invited for two post doctoral Research Associate positions in the field of diabetes and appetite regulation, in the groups of Drs Fiona Gribble and Frank Reimann, based in the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research.

Position 1 will investigate the effects of nutrients on cells secreting glucagon like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and other intestinal hormones, using a range of approaches, including flow cytometry, live cell fluorescence imaging, transcriptomics and dietary modification in rodent models. Position 2 will focus on the molecular mechanisms underlying GLP-1 secretion, employing techniques such as electrophysiology and live cell fluorescence imaging in primary cultures and other in vitro enteroendocrine models. The post is available from 1 March 2012.

It would be highly desirable for candidates for both positions to hold a PhD and have relevant technical experience. However, we may consider appointing a candidate without a PhD, but with relevant practical experience, at the Research Assistant level.
