Position 1 will investigate the effects of nutrients on cells secreting glucagon like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and other intestinal hormones, using a range of approaches, including flow cytometry, live cell fluorescence imaging, transcriptomics and dietary modification in rodent models. Position 2 will focus on the molecular mechanisms underlying GLP-1 secretion, employing techniques such as electrophysiology and live cell fluorescence imaging in primary cultures and other in vitro enteroendocrine models. The post is available from 1 March 2012.
It would be highly desirable for candidates for both positions to hold a PhD and have relevant technical experience. However, we may consider appointing a candidate without a PhD, but with relevant practical experience, at the Research Assistant level.
