Research Assistant in neurobiology, Bristol, United Kingdom

03 Sept 2012

Via www.naturejobs.com. A one year postdoctoral position is available immediately in Dr Patrick Case and Professor Jeremy Henley’s laboratories at the University of Bristol, UK. The project is to examine signalling from the placenta to the foetal brain. This novel concept of cellular signalling from cell barriers like the placenta and the cornea was recently discovered by their research group and this project aims to move this onto real-life applications towards the clinic.

The overall objectives of the project are to characterise changes in neuronal development with immunocytochemistry and to do this in dissociated cell culture as well as in slice preparations of brains. You should hold a PhD in a relevant neuroscience or biological discipline. If successful, you may be appointed either on a fixed-term or an open-ended contract depending on the extent of your previous relevant research experience. Three years’ appropriate and relevant experience at another higher education institution would normally lead to an appointment on an open-ended contract.

For informal enquiries contact: Dr P Case at: [email protected], Tel: 0117 323 2115. The closing date for applications is 9am, 18 September 2012.
