Regulation of prescribing for paediatric medicines in Europe

17 Oct 2012

Please look at the report below produced by the European Medicines Agency on the Paediatric Regulation for paediatric prescribing.

Although over the past years there has been considerable progress in approving medicines for use in children, there is much progress to be made. Not all EU countries are signed up to the programme either. Endocrinology has been one of the more successful areas for developing paediatric implementation plans. ESPE is actively participating in the European Network for Paediatric Research in the European Medicines Agency considering development of clinical trials, possibly in drugs for type 2 diabetes.

We are required to give feedback on this report as part of a consultation by the European Commission. Please send any comments or suggestions for drugs to be included or future developments to Gary Butler, Chairman of the Clinical Practice Committee, [email protected], by 12 November 2012.
