Via www.jobs.ac.uk. OCDEM, Churchill Hospital, Oxford are now recruiting for a Scientific Leadership Fellow who has the clear potential to become a leading research scientist working on the role of microRNAs in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism.

You will be expected to build a strong and internationally visible research programme that combines molecular, biochemical and genetic approaches to generate fundamental knowledge on miRNAs and miRNA target genes and their contribution to homeostatic and disease mechanisms in areas relevant to diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism and to develop state-of-the-art technologies

A key objective of this post is to secure external funding to sustain the post and build up an independent research group. Applicants should have a PhD in a medical/biological subject or equivalent, and at least five years postdoctoral experience in systems biology, physiology and metabolism. Applicants are expected to have an exceptional scientific track record demonstrated by first author manuscripts in major scientific journals. Applicants should have an interest and ability to develop independent research and organise extramural funding and have extensive experience working with physiological models of obesity.
