Hypoparathyroidism (HPTH) UK marked this day by highlighting the issue of post-surgical hypoparathyroidism and launching a new section on its website where patients who have permanent hypoparathyroidism following thyroid (or parathyroid) surgery describe their disorder and how it has affected their lives.
Hypoparathyroidism is an uncommon endocrine condition that affects the levels of parathyroid hormone in children and adults, causing low levels of calcium in the blood. HPTH UK has produced a patient leaflet about hypoparathyroidism in conjunction with the Bone and Mineral Special Interest Group of the Society for Endocrinology. For more information about HPTH UK or to download a copy of the leaflet, click on the link below.
