Quality assessment of endocrinology guidelines

There has been a increase in the number of guidelines issued over the past decade. Whilst these improve patient care and are based on evidence, overlap between guidelines exists and compliance is not adequate. In addition, different methods have been used to assess the evidence used to underpin a particular guideline. Hazelhurst and colleagues make a systematic review of the evidence used to support guidelines in endocrinology and highlight areas in need of further work, suggesting a common evidence assessment tool be used in future guideline production.
