Public Event: Bone of contention? New thinking on osteoporosis

29 Jul 2009

The Society is holding a public session on osteoporosis entitled 'Bone of contention? New thinking on osteoporosis' to be held from 10:00-12:00, Monday 7 September 2009. The event is taking place as part of the British Science Festival at the University of Surrey, Guildford, which runs from 5-10 September 2009.

Professor John Wass (University of Oxford) will open the session by giving an introduction to osteoporosis; Dr Neil Gittoes (Queen Elizabeth Medical Centre, Birmingham) will then take to the floor to discuss the causes and prevention of osteoporosis. The second part of the session will see Professor David Reid (University of Aberdeen) talk about current treatments for osteoporosis, and the event will be rounded off by a patient’s perspective, given by the National Osteoporosis Society. With such an eminent panel of speakers, this event promises to be an excellent opportunity to learn about all aspects of osteoporosis.

Our event forms part of the Biology Section which is sponsored by the BioSciences Federation and Institute of Biology and organised by the National Osteoporosis Society and the Society for Endocrinology. The event is free to attend, but advance booking is required. Click on the link below, or email [email protected] for further information.
