The Society for Endocrinology is the major British learned society representing scientists, clinicians and nurses working with hormones. The Society promotes and supports all aspects of endocrinology for the public benefit.

The Society, along with its commercial division Bioscientifica, are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual to join the Membership and Professional Affairs team as a Professional Affairs Officer to advance and support the work of the Society’s Science and Young Endocrinologist Committees. This post affords an exciting opportunity to be actively involved in the work of the Society; supporting our professional members and advancing understanding of endocrinology.

You will be educated to degree level and possibly post graduate level in a relevant discipline i.e. biosciences, nursing. The ideal candidate will have at least two years’ experience of working in a similar role providing committee and member support, event and educational support and an understanding of the issues relevant to the biosciences community.

Responsibilities

Reporting to and working with the Policy and Professional Affairs Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Policy level input, administration, coordination and support of the SfE Science committee
  • Policy level input, administration, coordination and support of the SfE YE Steering group
  • Liaison (and support as required) with appropriate external bodies including Society of Biology
  • Coordinate and develop the academic input into the Society’s annual meeting (Clinical, science, nurse and YE symposia) and maintain an academic overview for all educational activities
  • Coordination of Career Development Workshops, Clinical Cases Meetings and other SfE events as required

To be considered for this role, you will need the following:

Key skills and attributes

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • BSc/PhD in a relevant discipline i.e. biosciences, nursing
  • IT literate
