Postdoctoral studies in aging genetics, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden

12 Jul 2013

A position is now open in Associate Professor Maria Eriksson’s research group at the Karolinska Institutet Department of Biosciences and Nutrition to investigate genetic mechanisms of aging. Genetic mechanisms that affect physiological aging are of high interest to society, yet not well understood.  The research group studies genetic mechanisms of rare premature aging disorders and healthy aging using various in vitro and in vivo models. The premature aging disorder Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome is caused by mutations affecting the nuclear lamina with detrimental effects on many cellular processes that are also affected during physiological aging.

The applicant is expected to be highly motivated and enthusiastic with a strong background in molecular biology. The applicant should have a foreign PhD degree in molecular biology, human molecular genetics, mouse genetics or similar. Previous experiences from mouse handling and knowledge in cell biology is an extra plus.

Scholarships may be available to applicants from outside Sweden. The deadline for applications to the post is 31 August 2013. For more information please visit the job advert.
