Via www.jobs.ac.uk. A 3 year BBSRC-funded project (salary: £27,466 p.a) is available in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Surrey. The project is entitled 'Regulation of melatonin receptor expression by gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH)' and will study the physiological significance of melatonin receptors expressed in pituitary gonadotroph cells.
The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting in vitro and in vivo laboratory studies, using a variety of complementary experimental models. Laboratory techniques will include cell culture, reporter gene assays, molecular biology and in situ hybridisation of transgenic and other tissues. The role will also involve data analysis, delivery of research publications, and assistance with the supervision of student projects. For the duration of the project, the work will be supported by a full-time Research Technician, who will work alongside the Post-Doctoral Research Officer.
The applicant is expected to have a PhD in biomedical sciences, ideally with knowledge of reproductive physiology, neuroendocrinology or chronobiology. Although training will be provided when required, practical experience in cell biology, molecular biology or histochemistry would be desirable.
