The aim of the project is to develop cloning, expression and production of new insulin receptor constructs for systematic structural studies of the hormone-receptor complexes. The project is closely linked with work of Institute of Organic Chemistry, Czech Academy of Sciences (Prague), University College Cork and Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medial Research (Melbourne). The Programme should lead to delineation of structural determinants of metabolic and growth properties of insulin and IGFs, and lead to development of their novel analogues for more efficient treatments of diabetes and cancer.
Applicants are expected to have a PhD level qualification in human molecular biology, molecular endocrinology or biochemistry with experience in production of complex human proteins. The starting salary will be £32,901 per year. The post is available from November 2012 for a period of up to five years on a full time basis. The closing date for applications is midnight on Monday 1 October 2012.
