Applications are invited to join the dynamic, internationally recognised team led by Professor Toni Vidal-Puig studying 1) mechanisms of adipose tissue expandability, 2) mechanisms of adipose tissue macrophage polarisation and 3) central and peripheral mechanisms of brown fat activation and thermogenesis (supported by BBSRC and EC FP7 BetaBAT consortium).

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in a relevant biological sciences discipline with experience in at least one of the three proposed research areas supported by a proven track record reflected in a strong record of publication. Ideally he/she will have a strong background in in vivo physiology and cellular and molecular biology. Experience in bioinformatics and lipid chemistry is a significant advantage. Candidates will require excellent communication and organisational skills as they will be expected to contribute to collaborative work with colleagues at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and to develop new external collaborations.
